| Mahesh
Bhat is documentary and editorial photographer based in Bangalore.
He has an experience of over 20 years. He has worked for all the
top Indian periodicals and has been commissioned by prestigious
international periodicals and corporations from over 20 countries.
He
has authored a book on photographs on Karnataka and co-authored
four more. He has held two solo exhibitions in India and has been
a part of group shows in Time Life building in New York and at
the University of California at Berkely. His book UNSUNG co-authored
with Anita Pratap, on people who have contributed to society against
personal odds was released in mid 2007. It has helped generate
over Rs.6.5 million (USD130000.00) in aid to the causes of the
Heroes featured in the book. Apart from UNSUNG, Mahesh has a one
other book on Karnataka to his credit and has been a contributor
for several books on Goa, Bangalore and Karnataka
Inspired
by his efforts on UNSUNG, 9 of India’s top editorial photographers
have come together to produce UNSUNG-2, by donating their time
to shoot the lives and works of a set of 9 real heroes.
Mahesh
also published a pioneering magazine on visual thinking called
LIGHT, in the late nineties, which is still remembered by those
who subscribed to it.
In 2007, he
was comissioned by Marie Claire magazine of USA to photograph
a story on a female suicide bomber of LTTE. He has also covered
the immediate aftermath of Tusnami in Srilanka for international
media.
He is also
the India Talent Scout for an exciting New York based stock picture
agency called WIN-Initiative (www.win-initiative.com)
